In the world of the Twenty-first Century, young adults are bombarded
from every angle with images of immorality, sex, drugs, alcohol, and expectations that make it nearly impossible to develop
a healthy self-image. Young women are highly susceptible to these images because of the pressure of their peers, their parents,
and the rest of society to conform to a specific predetermined form of what a young woman is supposed to be. The problem is
that in today’s society, young women are taught that sexual promiscuity is the only way to capture and maintain a relationship
with a boy, that experimenting with homosexuality is normal, and that drugs and alcohol are the only ways to have fun because
“everybody’s doing it.”
Revolutionary Girls Youth Ministry was developed in order to combat the signals and expectations the world presents
to young women with the plan God has laid out for them. Centered around fellowship and God-centered studies and workshops,
RGYM helps girls aged 13 to 18 cultivate a strong faith in God, an active prayer life, close relationships with other Christian
girls, a healthy vision of who they are in Christ, and a healthy knowledge that God created them exactly the way they are.
RGYM acts on three specific levels of involvement: monthly large group workshops that deal with issues and questions girls
face most often, weekly small group Bible studies and mini-workshops that tackle individual issues and cultivate strong relationships,
and yearly conferences to equip leaders and girls to share their faith and commitments with their communities.
RGYM focuses on five different yet interrelated points that enhance the faith and relationships of the girls who take
part in the program. Large group and small group interaction underwrites and supports the involvement of young women by promoting
fellowship, discipleship, service, accountability, and prayer.
